OFFICIAL: Mercedes second of two protests of the results of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was not upheld. The race result stands and Max Verstappen is drivers’ world champion.
The stewards say the race director is unliable to tenancy the use of the safety car, and taking the results from the penultimate lap (as Mercedes requested) “is powerfully shortening the race retrospectively, and hence not appropriate.”
